Forest and limestone hills seen from Ngu Lam Peak

National Park

Cat Ba National Park is the island’s forest counterpoint to the bay, with marked walks, limestone terrain and important protected habitats.

Choose a route that fits

A shorter walk and viewpoint visit can fit into a half day, while longer routes require more time, planning and sometimes a guide. Ask park staff about current trail access, difficulty, fees and the latest safe return time before setting out.

Prepare for limestone ground

Wear grippy shoes and carry water even when the forecast looks mild. Steps, roots and rock can become slippery after rain; turn back if the route becomes harder than your group expected.

Protect the place you came to see

Stay on open trails and keep your distance from wildlife. UNESCO identifies the wider archipelago as a landscape of exceptional karst scenery and biodiversity, so a good visit leaves the forest as it was found.
