Kayakers paddling through a limestone cave opening

Best kayaking locations

The best Lan Ha kayaking stop is the one permitted and safe on your travel day; cave passages and sheltered lagoons are highlights when tides allow.

Ask about the route, not a photo

The Cat Hai tourism information lists Hang Sang–Hang Toi and other named areas among bay visitor routes. Access to a cave or lagoon depends on the authorised route, tide and conditions, so request the planned paddle location before booking.

Make the paddle comfortable

Check whether the kayak is single or shared, how long you will paddle and whether a guide stays with the group. Wear a correctly sized life jacket, keep a safe distance from boats and protect your phone in a dry bag.

Accept a safe substitute

Low clearance, strong wind or harbour restrictions can close a particular passage. A responsible crew should explain the substitute rather than promising every pictured cave on every departure.
