Daiichi Bus Hanoi to Cat Ba: Routes, Fares and How the Transfer Works
A Cat Ba transfer is easiest to understand as one journey made up of several connected parts: the drive out of Hanoi, the crossing to the island and the final bus ride to town.
Daiichi sells a combined bus-and-speedboat service that brings those parts together. For travellers deciding whether to organise transport independently, the appeal is practical: one booking coordinates the mainland and island sections.
The important detail is to book the full Hanoi–Cat Ba service. A ticket ending at Cat Hai is a different journey and does not, by itself, take you to your accommodation on Cat Ba.
Daiichi Bus Schedule and Prices
Daiichi Travel’s bus-and-speedboat route information lists the following daily departures:
| Direction | Departure times |
|---|---|
| Hanoi → Cat Ba | 06:00, 08:00, 10:45, 12:30, 14:30 |
| Cat Ba → Hanoi | 07:30, 09:00, 12:30, 16:00 |
The journey takes approximately 3.5 hours. Cat Ba Beyond currently offers the standard service at 350,000 VND per person one way and 650,000 VND return. Daiichi also publishes promotional and service-specific prices, so confirm the final fare and departure time for your date before paying.
An early bus is useful if you want lunch and an afternoon on the island. A later departure gives you more time in Hanoi but leaves less room for an activity after arrival.
Pickup in Hanoi and Arrival on Cat Ba
The Daiichi Travel website lists its Hanoi office at 172 Tran Quang Khai and its Cat Ba office at 217, 1/4 Street. The service advertises pickup in Hanoi’s Old Quarter and drop-off at central Cat Ba hotels or the nearest accessible point.
Send the exact accommodation address when arranging collection. A hotel name alone can be ambiguous, especially when properties have similar names or more than one location.
If you are staying outside the central pickup area, agree on a meeting point before travel day. Also distinguish your personal collection time from the published bus departure: the two may not be identical.
The Journey from Road to Water
Daiichi describes an expressway journey towards Hai Phong, a rest break, a short speedboat crossing and a final island bus ride of around 40 minutes. Its instructions specifically tell passengers to take their luggage from the bus onto the boat.
This is useful to know when packing. A manageable suitcase or backpack makes the change easier, while a separate small bag keeps essentials within reach.
At the transfer point, follow the staff’s directions rather than assuming that the next vehicle carrying the same branding is yours. Keep your booking available until the final drop-off.

What Is Included in the Fare?
Daiichi’s published return-ticket inclusions cover the bus connection, the speedboat or ferry crossing, collection within the stated central areas, an onboard guide, bottled water, a cold towel and a small cake or snack.
A snack should not be treated as a full meal. Have breakfast before an early departure or carry something suitable if you have dietary requirements.
The crossing deserves attention: although the product is marketed as bus plus speedboat, its inclusions also mention a ferry alternative. Confirm which arrangement applies to your date.
Daiichi separately lists bus-and-cable-car products. Those should be treated as different ticket options, with their own departure availability and price.
Booking the Return Journey
Returning from Cat Ba follows the same basic pattern in reverse: island transport, the crossing and the mainland drive. The return page describes a rest stop on the road to Hanoi.
If you are staying several nights, decide whether a return booking matches your plans. A lower combined fare is useful only if its change conditions allow the flexibility you need.
Before paying, ask how to change the return date, whether a missed departure loses the ticket and what happens if the crossing is disrupted. Keep the answer with your confirmation.
For children, oversized luggage or mobility needs, arrange the details in advance. Do not assume that a standard adult ticket explains the rules for an extra seat, a stroller or assistance during boarding.
Daiichi’s route can work well as part of a simple itinerary: leave Hanoi in the morning, settle into Cat Ba, spend your main sightseeing day on the island and return without a tightly timed connection immediately afterwards.
